This mural presents two concepts. First is honoring the Passenger Pigeon—a species that once covered the skies of North America but was driven to extinction by colonization and industrialization. Second is the words “Ka’nigon’riio” in stylized text on a burden strap, which is being held up by two hands. The words mean “good mind,” which is a Houdinosoni ideal that embodies peace, not using harsh words towards others, working together, the environment, diplomacy, and care for future generations. The burden strap is a tool used to carry loads on one’s back by tying the rope ends to the burden and the wide strap across the forehead or shoulders. According to the artist, the burden strap is a “metaphorical and literal reminder of the responsibility that we all have for each other,” a theme that is reinforced by the two hands—one pale and one brown—on either end of the strap.
 
This mural is located on the outer wall of Trinity Place Church on Castle Street and was sponsored by the Geneva Rotary Club.
